The City of Athens, Tennessee will hold a budget work session on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Athens City Hall, located at 815 N. Jackson Street, Athens, Tennessee.
The purpose of this budget work session is to discuss matters related to the city’s FY 2026-27 proposed budget. No votes or other official action will be taken at this meeting. The meeting is open to the public.
In addition to the above meeting, the proposed budget will be further discussed during the May 11, 2026 work session and have a first reading of the budget ordinance during the May 19, 2026 regular session.
The proposed budget will be further discussed during the June 8, 2026 work session and have a public hearing, second reading of the budget ordinance, and considered for adoption during the June 16, 2026 regular session. If approved, the budget will go into effect on July 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027.
