Fire

The Fire Department is responsible for protecting lives, property, and the environment from fire and other emergencies. The department operates two 24/7 fire stations, has an ISO rating of 2, and consists of three divisions: Administration, Prevention, and Suppression.

The Administration Division:

Oversees all functions of the department including the department’s budget and personnel as well as scheduling training and exercises
Coordinates with the Local Emergency Planning Committee and the McMinn County 911 Center and User Committee
Issues burn permits
Issues incident reports
Offers first aid and CPR training
Offers hands-on fire extinguisher training
Offers tours of the fire stations
Arranges fire truck visits to schools, churches, and civic events
Distributes and installs free smoke alarms to eligible recipients

The Prevention Division:

Conducts pre-fire planning reviews and inspections of new and existing structures
Maintains mutual aid agreements
Investigates fire causes
Conducts various community outreach programs

The Suppression Division:

Responds to fire calls to control and extinguish fires
Responds to medical calls to provide medical services
Performs rescue services
Maintains fire hydrants
