The City of Athens proudly recognized former NBA player, current coach, and Athens native Ronnie McMahan during a special ceremony at City Hall.
In anticipation of Ronnie’s upcoming kidney transplant on April 28th, 2026, community members gathered to celebrate his life, accomplishments, and lasting impact. In honor of his contributions, the City officially proclaimed April 16 as Ronnie McMahan Day.
As part of the celebration, Ronnie was also presented with the Key to the City, a tribute to his achievements and the pride he brings to the Athens community.
A Vanderbilt Athletics Hall of Famer, Ronnie McMahan continues to inspire those around him both on and off the court. The City extends its sincere appreciation to all who attended the event and shared their heartfelt stories.
Please join us in keeping Ronnie and his family in your thoughts as he prepares for his upcoming operation.
