Annual Events
Mother Son Dance
The Mother Son Dance will take place on Saturday, November 8th 2025. Doors open at 6:30pm for photos and dance will be 7:30pm-9:00pm.The 2025 theme will be “Old Hollywood”
Price per ticket is $12 and a photo voucher is $14.
Daddy Daughter Dance
The Daddy Daughter Dance will take place on Friday, February 27th and Saturday, February 28th 2026. The Friday night dance doors will open on 6:30pm for photos and the dance will be from 7:30pm-9:00pm. The Saturday afternoon dances will be offered at 1:00pm and 4:30pm. Doors open for these dances at 12:00pm and 3:30pm respectively. The Saturday night dance doors will open at 6:30pm for photos and the dance will be 7:30pm-9:00pm. The 2026 theme will be “Old Hollywood”

The Fishing Derby
The Fishing Derby is a free annual youth fishing event hosted by the Athens Parks and Recreation Department. TWRA stocks the Athens Regional Park pond with rainbow trout before the event. It is a 12 and under fishing event, meaning that teenagers or adults cannot participate in this event. They can help bait the child’s hook but cannot reel in the fish for them. Prizes will be given to those that catch trophy fish and random prizes will be drawn throughout the event. The 2026 Fishing Derby will take place on Saturday, April 18th 2026 at 7:00am.
Soap Box Derby
Soap Box Derby is an annual sanctioned race hosted by the Athens Parks and Recreation Department at Keith Lane.
Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Egg Hunt is an annual free event hosted by the Athens Parks and Recreation Department at Athens Regional Park. The event will take place on Saturday, March 28th 2026. Prizes will be given out to children that find golden eggs. Prizes also include discounts to our other annual events or sports registrations.
Arbor Day Celebration
The Arbor Day Celebration is an annual event hosted by both the Athens Parks and Recreation Department and Tennessee Wesleyan University celebrating our status as a Tree City USA and a Tree Campus USA. The 2026 celebration will take place on Tuesday, April 7th 2025 at 11:00am at the Tennessee Wesleyan University quad.
