Knox Asian Festival Recognizes Athens for its Support of the Sister City Program with Isahaya, Japan
The Athens City Council was recognized for its support of the Sister City Program with Isahaya, Japan by the Knox Asian Festival during the City Council meeting on December 16, 2025. Kumi Alderman, Executive Director, and Naoko Podhorszki, Asian Culture Program Coordinator, presented a plaque of appreciation to the City Council. The Knox Asian Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting diverse cultures by celebrating traditions, talents, and heritage from across the Asian continent to create an environment where cultural understanding thrives. The Knox Asian Festival conducts an annual celebration each year in Knoxville to showcase Asian music, dance, food, fashion, and handicraft. The 2026 festival will be held on Aug. 29-30 at Knoxville’s World Fair Park.
