In accordance with Tennessee Code Annotated Section 6-51-101,6-51-102, and 13-7-203 (A), the City of Athens gives notice of a public hearing to be held during the regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Athens Municipal Building beginning at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive input from the public concerning a proposed resolution to adopt a “Plan of Services” and to receive input from the public concerning annexing same area shown on the map below into the corporate limits of Athens. Public Comments will be accepted at this Public Hearing concerning the adoption of the plan to provide services to the 2.35-acre more or less of the Lee Drive Annexation Area. A map of the proposed area to be annexed and a copy of the Plan of Services will be available for public review during normal business hours at the Athens Municipal Building, 815 North Jackson Street, E.G. Fisher Library, 1289 Ingleside Ave and Public Works, 219 Alford St, Athens. In addition, the “Plan of Services” along with the map can be viewed in its entirety at https://athenstn.gov. All parties wishing to speak on this issue should be present at the hearing or submit comments to the Director of Community Development, 815 North Jackson Street , Athens, Tennessee 37371-0849 or via email at acasteel@athenstn.gov on or before the public hearing date.
