Municipal Court

The Municipal Court is a limited jurisdiction court that primarily handles violations of city ordinances such as traffic violations and other minor offenses relating to public safety. The Municipal Court Judge is appointed by the City Council and has jurisdiction in and over all cases arising under the laws and ordinances of the city. In particular, the Municipal Court Judge:

  • Hears court cases and has the authority to impose civil penalties, costs, and forfeitures on violation of city ordinances.
  • Enforces the collection of all imposed civil penalties and costs
  • Maintains court dockets and records
